Leslie Cooper and Harry Mayronne

Leslie Cooper grew up a vocalist with jazz musicians for parents. She manages a Trad Jazz/Brass band comprised of High school students. She is director of a music education program called "Pass it On," and is a member of the Traditional Jazz Educators Network. She is also the Entertainment Director at Buffa's.

In March of 2019 Leslie was honored by WWL TV as a Neighborhood Hero for her efforts to provide musical instruments to New Orleans kids who otherwise could not afford them. You can see the WWL story and learn more about these efforts at Pass It On Nola

Doyle Cooper began playing trumpet at the age of 10. Raised in a musical family, it was always a matter of what he would play, not if he would play. He was immersed in Traditional Jazz since his Grandfather and Mother both performed for years.

Doyle finds it an honor to share this great music with the audience and students alike. After numerous performances at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and other efestivals in the area, Jazz Fest 2017 is the first time this band has performed in Economy Hall. The Doyle Cooper Jazz Band plays weekly, Friday nights at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in the historic French Quarter.

The son of artists (and great-grandson of British music hall pianist/impressionist Gerald Mount), musician/puppet-maker and puppeteer Harry Mayronne has appeared with Nina Hagen at Berliner Ensemble. His marionettes can be seen at Creason’s Fine Art in the French Quarter. He is also composer/co-producer of Waiting Around—the Restaurant Musical, written along with Ricky Graham. The show had an off-Broadway run in 2006. As a Pianist/Musical Director Harry has played in many New Orleans venues, National Arts Club, Symphony Space, the Greenbrier, Bar Jeder Vernunft in Berlin. and most recently, Club Cumming in NYC. He can be seen giving Big Freedia a German lesson in episode S4E6 of the show Big Freedia—Queen of Bounce. Harry is currently working with the Stage Door Idol singing competition at BB's Stage Door Canteen at the WW2 Museum.

This performance is from The Back Room at Buffa's on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
